Safari Initial design
The safari design is a new initial design which has proved quite popular. The original colour-way of the name painting on which it is based has without fail been the most selected colour for the initial paintings – a varying shade of burnt orange. This colour lettering works extremely well to compliment the golds, browns and oranges of the jungle animals and to contrast against the brighter hues of the greens and blues of parrots and crocodiles. Many different safari animals can be chosen – just see the Safari names exhibited in the Boys Names gallery – although it’s always good to include some greenery in both the form of trees and either snakes or crocs to give interest.
An original watercolour, it is handpainted on thick watercolour paper and mounted using an off-white acid free mount board. The lettering below is hand-drawn and hand-painted in a script style. Presented in an off-white textured mount, the finished mounted picture measures approx. 23cm x 23cm, ready to slot into a standard off-the-shelf frame. (The dimensions of the painting itself within the aperture of the mount are approximately 12cm x 12cm).
